SEDGWICK — The town of Sedgwick is holding a secret ballot referendum on Friday, April 29, at the Sedgwick Town House to decide whether the town will raise additional tuition for George Stevens Academy.
Polls will be open from 1 to 6 p.m.
GSA is requesting an additional $76,500 in tuition for the fiscal year 2022-23. That equals an additional $700 per Sedgwick student. The superintendent’s office estimates that Sedgwick will send 45 students to GSA next year.
According to a copy of the warrant, neither the Select Board nor the Budget Committee have any recommendation on the vote.
In related business, the annual Town Meeting has yet to be scheduled because Sedgwick’s annual audit is still in progress, according to Town Clerk Cynthia Reilly. Per state statute, the audit is a required part of the annual report, and the annual report must be made available to the voters at least three days prior to the Town Meeting.
