School to Host Africa Program

BLUE HILL — Blue Hill Consolidated School students will exchange video messages with students in Lesotho and Rwanda in a program titled “To Africa and Back Again” on Friday, March 20, at the school.

The program is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Ever since last year, the students at the Blue Hill Consolidated School have had a special connection to Africa. It started as the schoolwide theme for the 2007-08 school year, and grew through penpal connections with students at a school in Lesotho and a T-shirt making project for students in Rwanda.

Students ended the school year with the creation of a video “postcard” from Maine during a weeklong arts week. The postcard was delivered to both the African schools.

Those attending the March 20 program will see the movie created here, as well as the response created with students in Lesotho, and the reaction to the film from Rwanda.

Refreshments will be provided and all are welcome.
