RSU 25 towns to vote on new roof, playground for Miles Lane School

BUCKSPORT — On Tuesday, Nov. 4, residents in the four Regional School Unit 25 (RSU 25) towns will vote on whether the district should expend up to $550,000 for two renovations at Miles Lane Elementary School.

Those towns are Bucksport, Orland, Verona Island and Prospect. The two projects in question are the construction of a new roof and playground.

The referendum, subject to voter approval, would authorize the RSU 25 Board to spend up to $490,000 for the roof project and $60,000 for the playground.

Both sets of funds would come from the district’s reserve account.

At a recent RSU 25 Board meeting, the board members said the roof project has been in the planning stages since the school district first formed.

The referendum vote comes after a major renovation of Bucksport High School this past summer.

Voting will take place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Jewett School in Bucksport.
