Relay for Life set for June 4

ELLSWORTH — On Saturday, June 4, the Hancock County Relay for Life will “Unmask the Cure” in a Mardi Gras-style Relay for Life event to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The event to celebrate, remember and fight back in honor and memory of cancer patients will be held at the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School track. The Don Clark Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. Relay kicks off at 11 a.m. and continues to 11 p.m.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk will leave the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School and go down the Shore Road. To register, go to www.relayforlife.org/hancockme and make a donation for $20 as an individual participant or $40 as a family participant. People will be able to register at the event as well.

The opening ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Cora Fahy will be the guest speaker. She will talk about her journey through cancer. Relay will then kick off with the Survivor and Caregiver lap, followed by the teams that are there to support the event (second line).

The event will also include “Paint Night,” Touch-A-Truck, Mr. & Mrs. Relay with Mrs. Maine International Rebekah Hodgson, photographs by Amada Clark with Dot’s Photography Company and raffles that will include baskets donated by teams and an opportunity to pie a committee/community member in the face.

The closing ceremony will begin at 9 p.m.
