Recount in Surry confirms initial tally

SURRY Results from a recount of ballots cast in the April 23 Town Meeting referendum are unchanged, according to Surry Town Clerk Angela Smith.

Smith and her four ballot clerks conducted the recount Thursday evening, April 29.

The ballot count was exactly the same as from the 23rd.

Christopher Stark was elected to one open seat on the Board of Selectmen by a narrow margin over Reginald D. Winslow Jr., 216-205.

Kerry A. McKim’s election to the School Board with 181 votes also was confirmed. Candidate Kristen McFarland received 173 votes and Charles Croan III took 27 votes.
