Rainy forecast nixes some Autumn Gold plans, others are still on

ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce has canceled the Autumn Gold Car Show at Home Depot and the Union River boat rides at Harbor Park planned for Saturday, Sept. 25.

“The weather forecast of heavy rains and thunderstorms are not conducive to being on the water, or having your vintage car out in the elements,” said Gretchen Wilson, Chamber executive director. “We have been watching the forecast, as well as taking calls from many of our car show participants, and it does not look like a good weekend for either of these events.”

Other Autumn Gold events will take place as scheduled, including live music on Main Street Friday night with the Crown Vics at 6:30 p.m. Other events Saturday include open houses at many businesses, craft fairs at both the Mill Mall and Maine Coast Mall, Autumn Gold train rides, a “mini” Hancock County Relay for Life and more. Sales and specials at businesses round out the fun in Ellsworth this weekend.

The Chamber Visitor Center at 151 High St. in the Renys plaza will host several food vendors, including Hancock County Technical Center culinary students, Ramona’s Bakery, Precipice Coffee and Al Dente Pasta, all with products for sale Saturday from 10-1. You can also purchase a Jumbo Jackpot ticket to win $2,500 in cash. Tickets are $10 each and only 500 will be sold.
