ELLSWORTH — The Maine Department of Transportation will pave a portion of Route 172 (Surry Road) beginning in mid-May.
The work involves placing a hot overlay of asphalt over a 2.9-mile stretch near the Ellsworth and Surry town line. The project is expected to be completed near the end of July and has an estimated cost of $701,000.
The work is expected to occur Mondays through Saturdays during the daytime hours. A traffic study is being done to determine if night work is needed. The route will be opened to alternating, one-lane traffic.
