Selectmen, School Candidates up for Election

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Voters here will fill one vacancy on the board of selectmen and one on the school committee in the election next Tuesday, Nov. 8. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the fire station meeting room.

Ed Davis and Dan Norwood are running for selectman.

Susan Allen and Mike Sawyer are seeking the school committee seat.

The candidates talked about the issues and their reasons for running at a public forum Oct. 26 sponsored by the Southwest Harbor-Tremont Chamber of Commerce.

The successful candidates in next week’s election will temporarily fill vacancies on the board of selectmen and school committee created by resignations this summer. Elections for full three-year terms will be held as part of the annual town meeting next May. Those terms will begin July 1.
