Rosen announces intention to seek GOP congressional nomination

BUCKSPORT — Former state Sen. Richard Rosen announced Thursday his intention to seek the Republican nomination for Maine’s 2nd District U.S. House seat.

Rosen is currently director of the governor’s Office of Policy and Management, a position he accepted Dec. 6.

He served three terms in the Maine House of Representatives and four terms in the state Senate.

As a state senator, he served two terms on the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. He served as the committee’s chairman for one term.

Rosen is also known for operating Rosen’s Department Store in Bucksport. The store ceased operations in April after operating for nearly 100 years.

Rosen expects to formally announce his candidacy by late September.
