Recount upholds CSD 13 election result by the slimmest of margins

DEER ISLE — A recount of votes cast for a Community School District 13 seat resulted in former School Board member Skip Greenlaw losing to newcomer Bill Shepard by one vote instead of four votes.

Greenlaw said he did gain an additional three votes from the town of Stonington as a result of the recount but still lost by one vote.

The recount was held July 17.

The final vote was 461 for Shepard and 460 for Greenlaw.

The July 14 primary results had been 461-457.

In Deer Isle, Greenlaw took two more votes than Shepard: 306-304. Those figures were the same after the recount.

In Stonington’s recount, Shepard took 157 votes to Greenlaw’s 154. The initial results in Stonington had been 157 votes for Shepard and 151 for Greenlaw.
