Local school budgets all pass

ELLSWORTH — Several school unions and districts held budget validation referendums Tuesday and all passed, clearing the way for new FY 2018-19 school budgets to start July 1.

In Ellsworth, 1,051 residents approved the budget and 487 voted against.

In Deer Isle-Stonington, 595 residents voted “yes” to the upcoming budget and 133 voted “no.”

Regional School Unit 25 also approved the budget, 1,259 to 350.

David Bridgham, business manager for Regional School Unit 24, said the proposed budget passed 1,278 to 493.
