Incumbents Moore, Phillips Reclaim City Council Seats



ELLSWORTH — Incumbents John Moore and John Phillips were re-elected to the City Council Tuesday.

Moore received 1,399 votes and Phillips received 1,235. A third candidate for the two available seats, Roger Lessard, received 582 votes.

The other local ballot races were uncontested.

Wendy Lessard and Raymond Williams were elected to the Library Board of Trustees with 1,465 and 1,502 votes, respectively.

Richard Gray was re-elected to the Regional School Unit 24 Board of Directors with 1,585 votes.

A proposed amendment to the city charter was approved 1,567-283.

The amendment clarifies language in the charter regarding the public posting of council meetings.

In all, 1,999 ballots were cast in the municipal election. Voter turnout was 36 percent.
