Election Day issues set

BAR HARBOR — A total of four proposed land use ordinance changes will be decided by voters on election day on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Proposed changes to the cell tower ordinance would remove school setbacks, introduce conditional use permitting for a number of districts, and remove special purview for Acadia National Park regarding the siting of towers.

The design review board ordinance proposal would streamline the design review process, including the creation of lists of approved paint colors, and the allowance of certain changes to signs without approval. The Shoreland IV ordinance would create a new commercial shoreland zone in Salisbury Cove which would bring into compliance all of the historic cottage rental properties in the area. The ordinance enactment process ordinance would solidify a new timeline for proposed ordinance changes. See next week’s Mount Desert Islander for complete coverage of Election Day issues.
