ELLSWORTH — Hancock County residents will not see any candidates for the office of county treasurer on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Current Treasurer Janet Eldridge has said she would not seek another term.
However, there is still a short window of time to be a write-in candidate on the ballot, according to Hancock County Commissioners Chairman Antonio Blasi.
Blasi said the deadline is Friday, April 13, at 5 p.m.
“They need to contact the secretary of state to qualify as a write-in,” Blasi said.
Anyone over the age of 18 who is a Maine resident and registered to vote in the electoral district he or she would represent may be a candidate for county treasurer, according to the secretary of state.
See the Candidate’s Guide to Ballot Access on the secretary of state’s website for more information at www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/candidate/index.
