Culvert is Planned for Residential Flooding Fix

BAR HARBOR — The town will install a culvert near several Salisbury Cove homes that have been the site of flooding in recent years. The effort should fix some of the water problems that homeowners across Route 3 from “little” Hamilton Pond have been experiencing, public works director Chip Reeves said, although it may not be a 100 percent solution.

The flooding problems were brought to light at the town council meeting on July 7 during emotional testimony by one of the affected homeowners, Bobbie Mendoza.

The culvert will run under Norway Drive, between Hamilton Pond and “little” Hamilton Pond. It will cost just under $5,000 to install. The council approved the move by a vote of 7-0.
