County Democrats meet July 19

ELLSWORTH — Harvard Professor Theda Skocpol will discuss her latest research, “Middle America Reboots Democracy — Understanding the Anti-Trump Resistance” at the July meeting of the Hancock County Democratic Committee. Skocpol is the Victor S. Thomas Professor of Government and Sociology at Harvard University and director of the national Scholars Strategy Network. She has been studying developments in eight counties that went for Trump, two apiece in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The meeting is Thursday, July 19, at 7 p.m. in the Theater Room of the Moore Center on State Street. All are welcome.

At 6 p.m., before the full county committee meeting, Ellsworth and Trenton Democrats will caucus to nominate a candidate for House District 132, which Louie Luchini has served for the past eight years. All registered Democrats in Ellsworth and Trenton may participate and vote.

The August HCDC meeting will feature Professor Marvin Ott on foreign policy.
