Why Are You Running for Office?
I believe county government is relevant because it provides services to all the towns that may or may not be able to afford them. Hancock County has a Sheriff’s Department, the County Jail, a Maine Drug Enforcement Unit, a Civil Process Department, Registry of Deeds, Registry of Probate, the District Attorney’s Office, Emergency Management and a Regional Communication Center providing 911 call answering and dispatch services. We also oversee both the unorganized territories and the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport.
All the commissioners work diligently to provide these relevant services for the least amount of taxpayers’ dollars, while providing good jobs with good benefits for 80-plus employees. I am running to continue to make Hancock County a relevant provider of services in these tough economic times with an emphasis on doing so in the most economical of ways.
