1. Make county government more efficient. We must work closely with local towns and municipalities to help reduce redundant services, which will provide local tax relief.
2. Make the county building complex more energy-efficient. The county has recently received an energy audit grant to address energy efficiency in the county building complex. The audit is now complete and several projects will be going out to bid in the near future. A limited amount of grant money is available to correct some of the existing inefficiencies and these tax dollars should be spent wisely to get the best return for the investment. My goal would be to have a 60 percent green energy complex by year 2015.
3. Promote economic development and a viable work force in Hancock County. I propose the county work closely with the towns and municipalities to provide economic growth for small businesses owners and those individuals who might want to start a new business. The addition of new small business will provide economic growth and good-paying jobs for the area.
My experience in county government and as a business owner gives me a solid background to accomplish these goals.
