Bucksport Voters Approve Charter Amendment

BUCKSPORT — Voters Tuesday, by a count of 921-258, approved an amendment to Bucksport’s charter that will provide the town manager and Town Council more time to prepare the annual budget.

The change will add about three weeks to the council’s time and two weeks for the manager.

This way, the council should have information about state and Regional School Unit 25 (RSU 25) budgets as it approves Bucksport’s budget.

The proposed amendment also would delete language that pertains to the change of the town’s fiscal year, which occurred in 1987.

Voters also returned four incumbents to the Town Council and RSU 25 School Committee.

Town Councilors Michael Ormsby and Jeffrey Robinson Sr. were returned to three-year terms on the board with 986 and 1,098 votes, respectively.

School Committee Chairman Mindy Stegner was returned for another three-year term with 1,020 votes.

School Committee member Thomas Foster was elected to another three-year term with 1,062 votes.
