BROOKSVILLE — Voters Tuesday approved a proposed wind energy ordinance by a count of 274-111.
The ordinance, which goes into effect immediately, regulates the installation of commercial and residential wind energy systems.
Regulations contained in the ordinance likely will prohibit any commercial wind energy development.
Key points of the ordinance include a maximum tower height of 100 feet and a maximum allowable power output of 50 kilowatts per turbine.
The ordinance also sets a maximum sound level at a property boundary of 35 decibels.
