Planning Board

BAR HARBOR — The planning board is back up to capacity following the appointment of two new members by the town council Tuesday.

Restaurant owner Tom St. Germain was appointed by a 7-0 vote to a two-year term on the board, ending in 2014. Mr. St. Germain holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from William and Mary College. He is the owner of Jack Russell’s Steakhouse, on Route 3.

Also appointed to the board was Ivan Rasmussen, owner of the Alone Moose gallery on West Street. Mr. Rasmussen was voted in 6-1, with council chairman Ruth Eveland voting in the negative because of process issues. Ms. Eveland felt that Mr. Rasmussen’s application was not turned in on time. Mr. Rasmussen was appointed to a three-year term, although he made clear that he may have to step down early because of previous travel commitments.
