Photography group to host program Aug. 19

CHERRYFIELD — The Downeast Photography Group will host a program on saving family photos 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at The Maine Seacoast Mission, 7 Weald Bethel Lane, Cherryfield.

The presentation will be given by Dan Klimek, whose mother was the family historian. She made the traditional photo albums with photos fastened to pages with corner stickers and handwritten notes and commentary.

When Klimek inherited the photo albums, he noticed they were disintegrating. He also wanted to be able to share them with other family members.

He will share his methods, which involve the use of relatively simple equipment to create digital copies.

Admission is free for group members and $5 for nonmembers. The admission fee can be applied toward membership.

For more information, visit or find the group on Facebook.
