Phase 2 of Blue Hill fitness center begins

BLUE HILL — Construction has begun on the second phase of the Lawrence Family Fitness Center, which will include a walking track.

The gift to the community from Tradewinds Marketplace owners Chuck and Belinda Lawrence and family already features a building complete with fitness center and six-lane pool.

Initially, the plan was to build a walking track over the pool. However, because of the heat and issues the pool would create with condensation, that plan wasn’t realistic, said Chuck Lawrence.

Dunbar & Brawn Construction in Bangor is doing the work.

Company President Nick Barboza, in a letter to Lawrence, said he anticipates his crew constructing the skeleton of the building in mid-December with the roof following shortly after.

“At this time, we anticipate completion in the middle of 2022,” Barboza stated.
