Peacemaking Award Offered

BAR HARBOR — Nominations are sought for the 2009 Peace Award to honor a high school senior from Mount Desert Island who has sown the seeds of peace. This award seeks to recognize a student who creates an inclusive and community-oriented atmosphere; facilitates conflict resolution, or works to remove the causes of injustice.

Acadia Friends Meeting (Quakers) enlists your help in recognizing a young adult from our community who is deserving of this award. The winner of the Peace Award will receive a certificate, a $200 cash stipend, and a year’s subscription to Yes! magazine.

Fellow students, teachers, or community members may nominate a home-schooled or high school senior for the award. For more information and a nomination form, please contact Deborah Loftus at 288-8111. Nominations should be submitted no later than Thursday, April 30, to Acadia Friends Meeting (Quakers), P.O. Box 21, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
