BAR HARBOR — A large house owned by the St. Savior’s Episcopal Church that has sat vacant for several years will be renovated and turned into community housing for young adults with mental disabilities.
St. Savior’s church is selling the downtown house for a nominal fee to Local Solutions, a group founded by Dee Karnofsky and Lee Haynes, along with other families, just several years ago as a response to the lack of service for their adult children with special needs.
Local Solutions has embarked on a capital campaign to raise $200,000 to renovate the house, which is located off Kennebec Street behind the church.
