Orrington man killed in Township 34 crash

TOWNSHIP 34 — A young Orrington man died in a single motor vehicle crash Oct. 6 around 4:30 p.m. on the Studmill Road, the Maine State Police reported.

Township 34 is adjacent to Great Pond.

Hunter Davies, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Rod Charette.

Charette said it appears Davies had been travelling at a high speed on the dirt road, went across a single lane bridge and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then rolled over. A passenger in the vehicle, Isaac Blood, 20, was not injured, police said.

“Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash,” Charette said. Neither Davies nor Blood had been wearing seatbelts, he said.

Cpl. Blaine Silk is the lead investigator. Sgt. Dan Ryan assisted.

The Old Town Fire Department, Milford Fire Department, Amherst First Responders, Maine Warden Service and Maine Forestry Service assisted.
