North Street crash causes power outage

ELLSWORTH — A Hancock woman was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center after her sport utility vehicle struck a utility pole on North Street Sunday evening.

The operator, Stacie Alley, 40, had been released from the hospital late Monday afternoon, according to Lt. Harold Page of the Ellsworth Police Department.

Page said Alley was driving a 2001 Jeep Liberty, which went off the road, hit the utility pole and rolled over.

Page said police do not know what led to the crash and there were no witnesses.

Alley had been wearing her seat belt and initially was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

North Street was closed for three hours and residents were without power while Emera Maine repaired the electrical lines and pole, Page said.
