New coffee shop coming to High Street

ELLSWORTH —While neither City Hall nor Ellsworth Shopping Center owner KGI Properties will confirm the name of a new coffee shop seeking a spot in the center, KGI Properties has submitted a Notice of Intent to the Maine Department of Transportation. It plans to file a traffic movement permit application for a coffee shop with drive-through window service.

According to the notice, KGI is proposing a 2,250-square-foot coffee shop at 151 High St.

The city also received a building permit application from KGI, for a “new outparcel café with drive through,” Economic Development Director Janna Richards said.

But, since the Code Enforcement Office has recommended the project be reviewed by the Planning Board before issuing any permit, “there will be no immediate action on this building permit application until that process has been completed,’ Richards said.
