Nemo’s owner threatens lawsuit over fire response

Fire destroyed Cap’n Nemo’s in Tremont earlier this month.

TREMONT — An owner of Cap’n Nemo’s is threatening legal action against the town’s fire department for what he claims was an inadequate response to the Dec. 4 blaze that destroyed his restaurant.

Bob Cousins, who, along with his wife Judy, owns the restaurant, said Tuesday that he believes members of the Tremont Volunteer Fire Department made only a half-hearted attempt to squelch the fire, which started in the lighthouse-like tower that served as living quarters for the family.

Firefighters, plagued by lack of water and equipment problems during the blaze, say they did everything they could.
