SEDGWICK — A motorcycle at rest inside a workshop caught fire at a Driveway Lane residence in Sedgwick Sunday afternoon, according to Fire Chief David Carter.
“It was called in as black smoke coming from a shop,” Carter said. That was at 3:54 p.m.
Driveway Lane is near the intersection of Mines Road and Snow’s Cove Road.
Carter said the motorcycle had been having starter problems, so that’s how the fire may have started.
“The owner’s daughter spotted the fire,” the chief said. “She went to get something out of the shop. She closed the door as soon as she encountered the black smoke.”
The fire damaged the motorcycle and a bit of the building, the chief said. The results of the fire consisted mainly of smoke damage.
“We got it knocked down quite quick,” Carter said. “It was a good save.”
The Blue Hill and Brooksville fire departments provided mutual aid.
Crews were on scene for about 90 minutes.
