ELLSWORTH — The city of Ellsworth’s annual Memorial Day parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30. Line-up will be at the Moore Community Center on State Street.
The parade is one of several events taking place Monday throughout the area.

Friends of the Church on the Hill in Addison and VFW Post 11553 and auxiliary are sponsoring the Memorial Day observance in Addison again this year. It will begin on the lawn in front of the Mayhew Library at 10 a.m. The speaker this year will be Jane A. Look. She will be speaking of the Bataan march during WWII. She will quote from her interview with her father, Oscar Look, who survived that march.
From the library lawn the program will move to the nearby wharf, where a short ceremony will be held and flowers will be placed in the water to commemorate those who died at sea. The last part of the program will be at the Church Hill Cemetery. There will be a bus available for those who would rather not walk. Participants are encouraged to take the bus instead of cars since there is limited parking at the cemetery.
At the close of the ceremonies there will be refreshments at the Town Hall supplied by the auxiliary and others.
Bar Harbor will pay tribute to veterans and the country’s fallen service members during a Memorial Day ceremony at the Village Green at 10 a.m. on Monday. All are welcome to attend.
Also on Monday, at 11 a.m., the Bar Harbor Garden Club is planning an in-person Memorial Day observance at the Blue Star Memorial Marker. The hand-crafted wreath will be on display all weekend.
During the pandemic years written thoughts and remembrances were collected. Anyone wishing to add more written reflections is encouraged to bring the written page to the observance.
The marker is located 1/3 of a mile from the head of Mount Desert Island on Route 3.
Blue Hill’s 2022 Memorial Day parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday. Participants should muster at the American Legion building at 13 Tenney Hill Road at 9:30.
The town of Hancock’s Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Hancock Village Memorial Lot, located at the intersection of Point Road and U.S. Route 1.
Before the ceremony, the Union Congregational Church of Hancock will host Breakfast on the Green. Breakfast sandwiches, muffins, coffee, water and juice will be available for purchase starting at 9:30.

American Legion Post 103 in Northeast Harbor will be sponsoring a Memorial Day parade on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
The parade will start at Mount Desert Elementary School and proceed down Main Street, ending at the Joseph T. Musetti Memorial Park at the marina, where a ceremony will be held.
The Acadian Community Woman’s Club is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Park on Harbor Road in Winter Harbor. Refreshments will be served immediately afterward at the Winter Harbor Masonic Hall on School Street.
