Memorial Day events scheduled throughout area

ELLSWORTH — The city of Ellsworth’s annual Memorial Day parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30. Line-up will be at the Moore Community Center on State Street.

The parade is one of several events taking place Monday throughout the area.

The following is partial listing:

Friends of the Church on the Hill in Addison and VFW Post 11553 and auxiliary are sponsoring the Memorial Day observance in Addison again this year. It will begin on the lawn in front of the Mayhew Library at 10 a.m. The speaker this year will be Jane A. Look. She will be speaking of the Bataan march during WWII. The last part of the program will be at the Church Hill Cemetery. There will be a bus available for those who would rather not walk. Participants are encouraged to take the bus instead of cars since there is limited parking at the cemetery.

At the close of the ceremonies there will be refreshments at the Town Hall supplied by the auxiliary and others.
