HOULTON—Mount Desert Island High School’s show choir took top honors in their division Saturday at the Maine State Vocal Jazz Festival at Houlton High School.

The high school show choir took first place in Division II with their performance of “Jekyll and Hyde.” Ethan Miller and Stephanie Leonardi were named outstanding male and female vocalists in the division. In addition, the pit band for the performance was named outstanding rhythm section.

Also competing at the state competition was the show choir from the Pemetic Elementary School in Southwest Harbor. The Pemetic students came in second in the middle school Division II competition with their performance of songs from “Enchanted.” Catie Forthofer was named outstanding female vocalist.
