MDEA seizes crack, heroin and cash in Verona Island drug bust



ELLSWORTH — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Tuesday arrested four people, charging them with selling crack cocaine and heroin on Verona Island and in Bucksport.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the arrests occurred at 343 East Side Drive in Verona Island.

Agents seized $11,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, McCausland said. An estimated 38 grams of crack cocaine and 41 grams of heroin were seized as well as $3,163 in cash, The money is suspected proceeds from drug sales.

The investigation included the undercover purchase of crack cocaine, McCausland said.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Bucksport Police Department and the Maine State Police assisted MDEA’s Downeast Drug Task Force based in Ellsworth with the investigation and a search of a residence.

Police arrested the two residents of the home:

Robert Maddocks, 44, on a charge of unlawful drug trafficking (heroin and crack cocaine.)

Heather Godin, 44, unlawful drug trafficking (heroin and crack cocaine.)

Also arrested were two people from Massachusetts, McCausland said.

Police arrested Cyntoine D. Sloan, 34, of Worcester, Mass., unlawful drug trafficking (heroin and crack cocaine.)

Rebecca Atamian, 28, of Fitchburg, Mass., unlawful drug trafficking (heroin and crack cocaine.)
