MOUNT DESERT — A new video monitoring system will be installed at the Northeast Harbor Marina at a cost of $6,084.

Harbormaster Shawn Murphy said in a memo to town manager Durlin Lunt that the current surveillance system is outdated. The main camera no longer works and the video recording system produces poor images.

“Technology has improved tenfold since we obtained our system,” he said. “I have witnessed footage captured through a system similar to the one proposed and was shocked at how good the quality of the picture was.”

The board of selectmen has authorized paying for the video monitoring system from the marina reserve account.
