BROOKSVILLE — On Thursday, Jan. 20, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Hancock County Communications Center received a report of an incident on the Wharf Road. A woman reported that her grandson had threatened her life with a firearm and shot her vehicle several times, disabling it. The caller was able to safely leave the residence.
Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Maine State Police responded to the home. The officers were able to make contact and communicate with the 38-year-old man over several hours. At approximately 8:40 p.m., members of the Maine State Police tactical team safely took the man into custody. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where police said he is being provided medical care unrelated to this incident.
During the incident, due to the close proximity to the Brooksville Elementary School, an officer stayed at the school to communicate with school officials and ensure the safety of the children and the school community.
