Man Charged with Engaging Prostitute

BAR HARBOR — Police here are still trying to sort out exactly what happened on Edgewood Street where a man was arrested on charges of assault, criminal mischief and engaging a prostitute, early Monday morning.

Michael Dickson, 35, of Jamaica and Bar Harbor, was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. after police received reports that two men were fighting in the street.
According to Sgt. David Kearns, Mr. Dickson had contracted the services of an exotic dancer from Bangor. He then allegedly agreed to pay $100 for sex, police said. When the woman tried to take $200 from Mr. Dickson a fight started that eventually involved a man who was waiting for the woman outside in a car, police said.
The woman, who police in Brewer arrested in a prostitution sting operation in June, then told police that she had been sexually assaulted by Mr. Dickson, Sgt. Kearns said.
Charges are pending against the woman and the driver of the car, police said.
Mr. Dickson allegedly smashed a window on the car which resulted in the criminal mischief charge.
