ELLSWORTH — The Maine State Police arrested two men after a traffic stop in Calais June 10.
Sgt. Jeff Ingemi charged James Knox, 56, of Calais with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
A passenger, James Knox, 24, of Machias, was arrested on a warrant.
Trooper Kim Sawyer and Washington County Deputy Ethan Stevens assisted.
Counterfeit bills
Trooper Travis Chapman responded to a Hancock restaurant, where counterfeit money was attempted to be exchanged for food, police said. “After an investigation, it was likely an unintended event and no charges were pressed.”
Summonses
Jacob Vande Sande, 18, of East Machias was summoned on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor June 8. Trooper Jarid Leonard stopped the teenager’s vehicle because it allegedly had “many defective motor vehicle violations.”
Trooper Owen Reed summoned Nicholas Bailey, 33, of Blue Hill on a charge of operating after suspension after a traffic stop in Sedgwick June 10.
Theft
Cpl. Blaine Silk received a complaint about a checkbook that was taken from a Sullivan residence June 9. Silk is still investigating.
Trooper Einar Mattson is investigating the theft of an all-terrain vehicle, a side by side, from an Eastbrook camp on June 11.
Criminal mischief
Silk is investigating a complaint from a Gouldsboro resident that two passenger side tires were sliced while the vehicle was parked on a Sullivan roadside June 9.
