Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries benefit canceled

STONINGTON — The Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries has announced that due to the lingering concerns about COVID-19, it has decided to cancel its “Tall Tales, Fish Tails & Damn Lies” fundraiser that was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Reach Performing Arts Center in Deer Isle.

In a statement, the center thanked the performers who were planning on providing entertainment, including Frank Gotwals, Dennis Damon, Bob Quinn, Mike and Susie Fay, Leroy Weed Sr., Hank Whitsett and some members of the Church of the Morning After. The center also thanked the event sponsors, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Camden National Bank, First National Bank, Island Fishing Gear and NAPA Auto Parts, Island Fishermen’s Wives and Machias Savings Bank, and also John Lincoln at the Reach Performing Arts Center.

The center hopes to present the event next year. Staff will be connecting with those who have purchased tickets in the next few days to discuss a refund.
