Line Dispute

TREMONT — A property line dispute between a resident and the town that began in 2008 has again reared its head.

John Buckwalter, whose property abuts the town-owned Murphy property parking lot, told selectmen Monday that he is again seeking resolution to the issue. The disagreement over the property line first arose after the town’s code enforcement officer issued a stop-work order to Mr. Buckwalter because a hole for a foundation for a garage addition to his home was in violation of the setback requirements in Tremont’s zoning ordinance.

In 2009, the town had the line surveyed. That line differed from the two surveys done for Mr. Buckwalter.

After considerable discussion, selectmen agreed to discuss the property line dispute on Dec. 17 if Mr. Buckwalter submits a proposal for a boundary agreement.
