Knowlton Park kick-off is Sunday

Plans for the Knowlton Community Park in Ellsworth include walking trails and green space.

ELLSWORTH — The Campaign for Knowlton Community Park will hold a free kick-off celebration on Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the site of the future park on State Street in Ellsworth.

The public is invited to this family-friendly event with food, music and fun.

There will be barbecue by Big Cat’s Catering and Morton’s Moo Homemade Ice Cream, as well as performances by the Flash! in the Pans Community Steelband and Trisha Mason’s Band, a Zumba demonstration and a live radio broadcast with local celebrity DJ Fred Miller.

Children’s activities will include a pick-up 19th century baseball game, a three-legged race, arts and crafts and face-painting. There will be yoga for children and adults and pen and ink caricatures by a local artist.

Plans for the park, created by local landscape designer Victor Rydlizky, are on display at Ellsworth City Hall and on the city of Ellsworth’s website.
