In slow month, city issues nine building permits

ELLSWORTH — With winter’s firm grasp comes a lower demand for building permits. The city only issued nine in the month of December.

Of the nine permits, residential work dominated, with four of the permits to allow additions, two for demolitions of homes and two for new single-family homes, including a mobile home on Stihl Way and a 2,400-square-foot home on Crabapple Way. The one commercial building permit issued will allow Wanderlust LLC, a Berwick-based travel agency with an office on Main Street in Ellsworth, to build a fire escape.
