PENOBSCOT — Republican Sherman H. Hutchins is running for a third term in the Maine House of Representatives.
Hutchins is a 10th-generation Maine native and has been married to his wife, Patty, for 54 years. Their three children have raised their families in Maine with 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons (one arriving in August).
Hutchins worked at Pratt and Whitney right after college as a draftsman but returned within a year to establish a construction business, which he operated for over 25 years. Hutchins served as a selectman in his hometown for 11 years and has moderated town meetings in many towns over the past 30 years. He served in the House of Representatives in the 1990s and is currently representing House District 131, which includes the towns of Dedham, Otis, Orland, Penobscot, Prospect, Stockton Springs and Verona Island.
Due to redistricting, Hutchins’ third term in the House, if elected, will include the towns of Bucksport, Orland, Penobscot and Verona Island.
