ELLSWORTH — Mike Howie has resigned from the Ellsworth Planning Board, announced Chairman John Fink at a meeting on June 5.
“Before [former city planner] Michele Gagnon left she told each of us that we were not allowed to resign without her permission,” Fink said.
“Then she left, and Mike resigned,” Fink added, to laughter.
“I’ve done my civic duty,” Howie said.
Howie was appointed in 2014 for a five-year term. The board’s five regular members serve five-year terms, while the two alternate members serve two-year terms. Alternate members attend meetings and may participate in discussion, but may not vote unless one of the five regular members is absent or unable to vote.
Alternate Planning Board member David Burks attended the June 5 meeting. Burks is a retired educator who worked at both the Mountain View and Cave Hill schools. His term is set to expire in June next year.
