Hiking trail closed for nesting peregrine falcons

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — To protect the nesting effort of the peregrines at Jordan Cliffs, the park on Monday closed the hiking trail there.

The park previously closed trails at the Precipice and Valley Cove. Although resource management specialist Bruce Connery had only seen one bird at Jordan Cliffs, over the weekend some park visitors reported that birds were diving at them, an indication that the birds are protecting the nest site.
