High school’s portable toilets called ‘insulting’

BAR HARBOR — The high caliber of Mount Desert Island High School’s sports facilities makes the use of portable toilets at the football field and track especially “insulting,” athletic director Bunky Dow told the school’s board of trustees Dec. 5.

He said construction of a storage building with restrooms would “raise the bar quite a bit.”

The board of trustees is responsible for the high school’s buildings and grounds. Board member Steve Hudson said the need for additional storage space has been brought up in the past.

Principal Matt Haney said he would talk with Dow, facilities manager Butch Bracy and others and then prepare a priority list of storage needs for the trustees to consider at their meeting in February.
