Healthy Peninsula appoints director

Denise Black

BLUE HILL — The Advisory Board of Healthy Peninsula has announced the appointment of Denise Black as director.

Black has worked as the community health coordinator for Healthy Peninsula since 2008 and had assumed much of the director’s role since Amy Vaughn’s resignation in November 2012.

Black has been engaged in community work on the Blue Hill Peninsula for more than 15 years. She has held community relations and program coordinator positions with several organizations in Blue Hill, including Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill Heritage Trust, Peninsula Area Team for Health and Healthy Peninsula.

Recently under Black’s leadership and the direction of the Advisory Board, Healthy Peninsula has begun collaboration with Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and Eastern Maine Health Care Systems to improve and identify health care needs in the community.

Upcoming events this spring will include early childhood health fairs, early childhood work group meetings, and community breakfasts.
