BROOKSVILLE — Healthy Acadia will be offering free “Tai Chi for Health” courses in January and February.
Tai chi is designed to benefit both physical and mental health. This ancient Chinese practice incorporates slow, gentle and controlled movements to improve relaxation, flexibility, balance, concentration and muscle strength. The courses are designed for people of all ages and levels of physical ability.
New sessions of “Tai Chi for Health” are set to begin in Brooksville and Deer Isle, taught by certified instructor, Mia Kanazawa. While classes are free, a donation is suggested.
Seated tai chi will be offered at the Deer Isle Nursing Home on Wednesday from Jan. 2 to Feb. 20, 2019, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Beginning tai chi will be offered at St. Brendan the Navigator Church on the same days from 11:15 to 12:15.
Beginning tai chi and intermediate tai chi will be offered at the Brooksville Public Library on Thursdays, Jan. 3 to Feb. 21, 2019. The beginning class runs from 9 to 10 a.m. and the intermediate class from 10 to 11 a.m.
