Portion Sizes

This week, Kelly and I talked about portions sizes in relation to calorie level and how to ensure she met all her caloric needs with all the food groups while not going over the limit. 

She is struggling a bit to put both portions and calories together, but we brainstormed some ideas for meals and snacks to help with that. We also discussed how to detect added/hidden sugars in foods as these can add a lot of calories for a carbohydrate that is not going to have staying power to give her the energy to get through her day. Overall, she is doing a fairly good job learning what is healthy eating and what is a normal portion size — and being able to put this into practice when she eats out and on the road.
