ELLSWORTH — Some 440 guests mingled, dined and danced into the night Saturday at the 27th annual Poinsettia Ball.
The festive event at the Ramada Inn raised more that $60,000 to benefit Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital’s women’s health services.
This year’s theme, the Poinsettia Ball Express, celebrated the golden age of passenger train travel. The buffet was prepared by Chipper’s Restaurant and Catering. Dessert was provided by Helen’s Restaurant. Maine-based dance band the Larry Williams Band provided the entertainment.
Supported by more than 70 patrons as well as the evening’s guests, the Poinsettia Ball continued a tradition of support that began with the first ball in 1992. All funds raised will stay in the local community to support obstetrics and maternity care at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital.
“Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital prides itself on providing the most comfortable, convenient, safe care,” said John Ronan, president of Maine Coast Hospital. “We can keep raising the bar for quality and patient experience in obstetrics and maternity by investing in our facility and providing our team with the tools they need to provide the best care. We’re grateful for the community’s generous support of the Poinsettia Ball and women’s health care at Maine Coast Hospital.”
Many guests participated in a silent auction featuring a wine basket, exotic travel, a shopping and dining package and a Boston sports trip.
Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital extended thanks to presenting sponsor Machias Savings Bank and Mrs. Edith Dixon, Wallace Events, Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital medical staff, No Frills Oil, Jones, Kuriloff, & Sargent LLC, Witham Family Hotels, Brogue Insurance, Brown, Holmes & Milliken Agency, Schoodic Insurance, Winter Harbor Agency and Lyman Insurance & Real Estate.
