BAR HARBOR — Mount Desert Island Hospital will host a health fair at the Mount Desert Island High School gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
The event will include live demonstrations and displays from a wide array of local health-related organizations. Adult flu shots for seasonal flu will be available for $20. People seeking flu shots are asked to wear short sleeves. A hospital spokesman said there is “a very limited supply” of the vaccine.
Displays and demonstrations will include: acupuncture by Sarah Tewhey, a licensed acupuncturist; adult flu shot clinic; Bar Harbor Fire Department hazard house; Bella Skin & Body; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Maine; bike helmet fit tests & give-a-way; blood pressure checks; blue folder patient safety project; cardio pulmonary testing; cholesterol screenings; deep tissue massage by Lisa John; Don & Beth Straus Center; Downeast Pilates; eye screenings by Dr. Timber Gorman; face-painting and mask making; foot checks by Dr. Robert Scovin; handprints reflexology; Healing Hands quilt group raffle; Healthy Acadia; integrated awareness by Annie Dundon, PA-C; Lifeline; MDI Hospital diabetes education; MDI Hospital Emergency Department; MDI YMCA; MDI Hospital Nutrition Services; MDI Hospital Prescription Assistance Program; proper hand washing technique; skin checks by Dr. Mark Kandutsch; smoking cessation hypnotherapy information; stress management.
A spokesman said the event is designed to be fun and educational for the whole family.
